HOW TO APPLY TO METU FOR A PHD DEGREE IN MECHANICAL ENGINEERING

• Application Criteria for a PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering can be found in the following link:

          Note that, requirements for PhD application is different than MS application.

• • For International Students GRE Quantitate score is required instead of ALES Quantitative Score. Department requires a minimum GRE Quantitative Exam score of 713 from GRE-old or 156 from GRE-revised

• • International students can use several English proficiency exams. For details visit: (http://fbe.metu.edu.tr/equivalence-table-english-proficiency)Minimum exam scores are METU EPE 65, TOEFL IBT 79, TOEFL PBT+TWE 550–4, IELTS 6.5.

• • A minimum of 2.5/4.0 BS CGPA is required for PhD application.
    However, for the project the minimum requirements are:  3.0/4.0 BS CGPA and 3.4/4.0 of MS CGPA

• • Two Reference letters.
    For the project one of the letters should be from MS Thesis Advisor of the applicant.

• • Letter of intension (included in the online form)

• • Undergraduate and Graduate transcripts (original copy and a translated copy in English)

• Application Dates can be checked from http://fbe.metu.edu.tr/application-dates. For Fall Semesters it usually starts sometime in May and ends sometime in June or July. Exact dates will be announced shortly. Please check the link given above.
